Start by applying a layer of fabric glue around the soles of your slippers (Figure 1), leaving room on the outside edges to punch your holes. Place the slippers sole side down on the suede side of a section of leather (Figure 2). Push gently around the sole and let dry for a few minutes. You can find an old leather coat at a second hand store, or buy it from a local leather store. The leather shown here is chocolate deer hide, and is beautiful and durable. Cut carefully around the perimeter of the sole, being careful not to snip your slipper (Figure 3). Punch holes around the soles evenly on the smallest setting of a leather hand punch for easier sewing (Figure 4). Using a doubled up piece of your leftover yarn, sew around the soles to secure it completely (Figures 5 & 6).

I buy full hides from Tandy Leather, but I've had lots of people who have found leather vests at second hand stores, which is a lot more affordable and great if you only need enough for one or two pairs of soles. Hope this helps! Good luck :)
